MEMBERSHIP WAITING LISTS

At January’s Committee meeting, it was decided to reopen the waiting lists for membership. Therefore, from Monday 1st February we will accept applications for all categories of membership.

It should be noted that we are currently at capacity and already have a substantial waiting list for Outside members. Therefore, expectation should be managed by any member making a proposal.

Those at the top of the waiting lists are invited to join each year in January, after membership renewal numbers are known, and during the year if further spaces become available.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

There are different types of membership, with eligibility determined by home address:

Inside members are those members residing within five miles of the club, by road.

Outside members are those members residing outwith five miles of the club, by road.

Associate members are the Golf House Club Elie’s greenkeeping staff or members of the Golf House Club Elie.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

Payment of the subscription and an entry fee, if applicable, is required to join the club.  The annual subscription is then payable in January each year.  The entry fee can be paid in two instalments of £250, payable with the subscription each year.

The club does not offer pro-rata rates for those wishing to join mid-way through the year.

GOLF AND GREEN FEES 

Membership entitles the member to unlimited golf and may take part in club competitions and elect to have a handicap maintained by the club.  A major benefit is that the Elie links allows golf all year without the need for temporary greens and the use of mats.  In addition, the club has an extensive fixture list throughout the year with a full range of competitions and matches to play in and to enjoy clubhouse hospitality afterwards.

ADMISSION PROCESS

APPLICATION FORM

The first step in the process is to submit the application form, signed by a Proposer and Seconder, both of whom should be current members.

CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE

Applications will be reviewed by the Committee, with approval given by a simple majority.

REVIEW BY MEMBERS

Following committee-approval, applicants details will be made available to members for a period of at least two weeks.  Any member wishing to make representations regarding any of the applicants may do so in writing within the two-week period.

OFFER OF MEMBERSHIP

After the above-mentioned two-week period, successful applicants will either:

(1) receive an offer of membership, and upon payment of fees will be members of the club.

or

(2) be placed on the relevant waiting list.

For those offered membership, if payment is not received within two weeks, the applicant will be considered as having declined to become a member.

FAQ

• Can I apply if I don’t know any members to propose/second me?

Yes, however applicants with a Proposer and Seconder will be given preference.
