J N Smith and James Braid Open Competition Cancelled (15 May 2020) 


Due to the ongoing restrictions on playing golf as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic our Open Competition on 6 June 2020 has been cancelled.  For those who have already paid their entry fee for the competition you have the option to carry forward your payment to next year's Open or to request a refund. If you require a refund, please email earlsferrythistle@outlook.com with your address and the amount.


Our one annual Open Competition will be held on Saturday 6 June 2020.  There are two Cups to be played for as well as other place prizes.  The J N Smith Cup is for the best net score and the James Braid Cup for the best scratch score.  There is a handicap limit of 24 for entry to the Competition. Entries can be made online or by post to the Secretary using the application form, or online through the Wee Yellow Book where the Competition is listed.  To enter please submit the application form with the following details: Name; Contact number/email; home address; your CDH number if known; home club; exact  handicap; and your preferred starting time. (Not guaranteed).  The entry fee this year is £25.  Please send a cheque  to The Secretary, Earlsferry Thistle Golf Club, Melon Park, Rotten Row, Elie, Fife, KY9 1AY.


The draw and results are published on the Club's page in Master Scoreboard.  See the links page.  Following the draw your starting tee time can also be confirmed by the Course Starter from the Saturday before. Telephone 01333 330301.   Any queries about your time or entry should however be directed to the Secretary of Earlsferry Thistle Golf Club and not the Secretary of Elie Golf House Club.    


The Cups are named after two of our most illustrious former members. James Braid the renowned golf course designer and five times Open Champion and John Nelson Smith who played in the Walker Cup team in 1930 and played in the final of the British Amateur the year before.
